Will Chase Young be a ‘rental’ much like Emmanuel Sanders was for the 49ers?

Chase Young will be in Santa Clara on Wednesday to undergo a physical. 49ers general manager John Lynch held a conference call Wednesday morning to talk about the team’s most recent acquisition. This was not a trade that the Niners felt confident was going to happen, according to Lynch. He said, “this wasn’t something where I went to bed Monday night thinking we’re going to do this deal.” The 49ers and the Commanders had initially had conversations weeks ago, but Lynch mentioned the Young trade didn’t come together until “late in the game.” Young wasn’t the only Commander on the 49ers radar. Lynch spoke about how Montez Sweat’s name was brought up in conversations with Washington’s general manager Martin Mayhew, but the 49ers had their eyes on Young. Lynch also said the potential...

Prisco’s Week 9 NFL picks: Chiefs top Dolphins in Germany thriller, Will Levis wins again, Cowboys edge Eagles

The big-time week picking NFL games didn't come in Week 8, but it was right there in front of me. But two games went bad in the final seconds, two games I handicapped the right way but lost out in end-of-game garbage covers for the other side. The first happened Thursday night when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers got a late garbage touchdown thanks to two major penalties keeping the drive alive. Then the last one came when the Baltimore Ravens gave up 10 late points to let the Arizona Cardinals get the back-door cover. That turned my ATS record from what would have been a sterling 10-5-1 to a dismal 8-7-1. That stinks. That has my season record at 58-60-4. I did go 11-5 straight up, which raises that record to 73-49. Let's hope their are no back-door covers this week for me — unless,...

Raiders fire OC Mick Lombardi: Here’s who will call plays for the Las Vegas offense going forward, per report

The Las Vegas Raiders are attempting to change the trajectory of their franchise, as they fired head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler Tuesday evening. These weren't the only moves Vegas made, as the Raiders have also fired offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi, per Sports Illustrated. Quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree will replace Lombardi as offensive coordinator, per NFL Media. Lombardi's offense ranks 31st in yards of total offense per game through eight weeks (268.3), and 30th in points scored per game (15.8). In the 26-14 loss to the Detroit Lions Monday night, the Raiders recorded just 157 yards of total offense compared to Detroit's 486. Free-agent addition quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is averaging career-lows in yards per attempt (7.2), passer rating (78.1) and ...

The Google Pixel Watch 2 isn’t always charging reliably

The Google Pixel Watch 2 is what the first Pixel Watch should have been in the first place. Its processor and battery life are much more reliable, and it retains the unique design that Google came up with for its smartwatch. Some people consider that moving from wireless charging to a four-pin connector is a step back, though, and reports on Reddit seem to support that notion. Pixel Watch 2 owners report that they’re experiencing charging issues. There are two reports worth highlighting, one revolving around a unit that doesn’t charge at all and one with a Pixel Watch 2 that only charges unreliably (via Android Authority). Both reports have in common that the exact fault isn’t entirely clear. In the former case, the Redditor says they were able to charge their Pixel Watch 2 for four da...

Apple’s ‘Shot on iPhone 15’ claim is raising eyebrows

We already know that the iPhone 15 Pro Max camera is incredible, and so does Apple – which is why the company has made such a big deal of the fact that its latest product reveal, this week's 'Scary Fast' event launching new M3 Macs, was shot entirely on the smartphone. But the bold (and simple) "shot on iPhone" claim is arguably a little reductive, as shown by a new behind-the-scenes video from Apple. In short, yes, the video was shot on iPhone 15 Pro Max. With the help of some other very expensive kit. Want your own footage to look like Apple's? Hopefully you also have budget for some studio-quality lightning, gimbals, drones and SpaceCam rigs. Of course, the fact that Apple opted to use some pro-level kit alongside the iPhone itself will come as a surprise to exactly zero people. ...

First Benchmark Results Surface for M3 Chip in New Macs

The first benchmark results for the standard M3 chip surfaced in the Geekbench 6 database today, providing a closer look at the chip's CPU performance improvements. Based on the results so far, the M3 chip has single-core and multi-core scores of around 3,000 and 11,700, respectively. The standard M2 chip has single-core and multi-core scores of around 2,600 and 9,700, respectively, so the M3 chip is up to 20% faster than the M2 chip, as Apple claimed during its "Scary Fast" event on Monday. M3 chip: ~11,700 (+20% vs. M2 chip)M2 chip: ~9,700 (+17% vs. M1 chip)M1 chip: ~8,315It's unclear if the results are for the new 14-inch MacBook Pro or iMac, both of which are available with the standard M3 chip, but performance should be similar for both machines. The results have a "Mac15,3" id...

Watch Mean Girls’ Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert Reunite in Grool

Mean Girls stars Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert reunited to reprise their roles from the hit 2004 high school comedy in a new Walmart ad, revealing exactly what Cady Heron, Karen Smith and Gretchen Wieners are up to almost two decades later. In the Black Friday commercial, the three friends are back at North Shore High School, where Cady now works as the guidance counselor, confusing kids with her use of outdated slang like "grool." "At North Shore, some things never change," Lindsay voices in the ad. "On Wednesdays, we still wear pink." But now, Gretchen's daughter and her two friends are the new It Girls at school, while the toaster strudel heiress has taken on her official duties as the designated Cool Mom (channeling Regina George's mother, played by Amy Poe...

Crisis at Marvel: Jonathan Majors Back-Up Plans, ‘The Marvels’ Reshoots, Reviving Original Avengers and More Issues Revealed

This past September, a group of Marvel creatives, including studio chief Kevin Feige, assembled in Palm Springs for the studio’s annual retreat. Most years, the vibe would have been confident — even cocky — given how the premier superhero brand, owned by Disney since 2009, has remade the entertainment business in its image. But this occasion was angst-ridden — everyone at Marvel was reeling from a series of disappointments on-screen, a legal scandal involving one of its biggest stars and questions about the viability of the studio’s ambitious strategy to extend the brand beyond movies into streaming. The most pressing issue to be discussed at the retreat was what to do about Jonathan Majors, the actor who had been poised to carry the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but inst...

Heidi Klum’s Halloween Was Cirque du So Plume

Before we celebrate Mariah Carey defrosting this November, we must pay attention to the Queen of Halloween — a woman obsessed with putting on unwearable costumes in the largest way possible, someone who may not be thought of in the category of “German weirdos” but who, on Halloween, is basically Werner Herzog. This woman is Heidi Klum. And this year, she went as a peacock. No, not the NBC streaming service that you now have to subscribe to because it has the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie. An actual peacock. To amp up the volume on the peacock, she used prosthetics, but she’s no stranger to that (hello, Klum Worm). As much as we love the videos of her speaking with the beak moving so that it looks like it’s her actual mouth, what really set this year’s costume off was that she got Cirque d...
